I was 12 years old when Hemant Sir spotted the talent in me. For the next six years, I was coached by him. It was initially very difficult for me because I was a middle-distance runner (athlete), when I switched to pistol shooting, I found it very hard to stand still at one point.

2. Can you tell us about how you became an International Shooter?
I was 12 years old when Hemant Sir spotted the talent in me. For the next six years, I was coached by him. It was initially very difficult for me because I was a middle-distance runner (athlete) when I switched to pistol shooting, I found it very hard to stand still at one point.
Hemant Sir, though a very strict disciplinarian, was patient with me and motivated me to change my mindset. In short, he taught me to calm down and stay focused while standing still.
I learnt everything about pistol shooting from him, not only the technical part but all the things required to become a complete shooter.
3. Can you please explain what you mean by becoming a complete shooter.
A complete shooter is the one who has reached a high level of mastery over the physical fitness, mental toughness, technical competence and all-round shooting management requirements of the sport.
4. And all this you learnt from one coach or there were other coaches?
When you go to the National Squad, there are foreign coaches, but I was completely out of synch with them.
5. What do you mean by ‘out of synch’?
For many reasons, firstly, instead of understanding, how I shoot, they would insist on following methods to which they were used to teach. With Hemant Sir, it was always the other way around. He would ask me what I was thinking and feeling then providing me answers which suited my style.
6. What are your strong points as a shooter?
My strongest points are self-motivation, self-belief and my Mental Shot management.
7. Can you please explain these further?
To begin with, Hemant Sir provided me with the motivation to reach for goals which were initially beyond me. Then he made me independent by teaching me how to motivate myself. This he did, by teaching all his shooters how to maintain a diary where each day we would write down our thoughts, feelings, ups and downs but we always ended our diary by writing positively. This is just one of the ways he has taught us to motivate ourselves, until it became a habit.
Then he has also taught me to believe in myself, by setting very small goals, which I could achieve, then slowly making the goals larger bit by bit. This is how I developed confidence in myself and the self-belief which is a way of life now. I am truly indebted to him for this.
I have not been shooting for quite some time now, but Sir has taught me the Mental Shot program. This is like a video which I can play anytime in my mind to execute a perfect shot. Because of this, whenever I get the time to practice, within a week, I start shooting 384 to 388/ 400 quite easily.
8. What do you think of foresightshooting?
Typical of Sir, he always taught us using out of the box, novel methods, this website is a tribute to his genius. And I am so very happy because there are so many shooters all around the world who practice without a coach. Initially, they may have doubts but I can guarantee them, that once they get to know Sir and begin interaction with him, they will KNOW what a real Coach is.
9. What is the quality that you admire most about your coach?
Oh! My God! Honestly I really don’t know where to begin… I will try to the best of my ability.
His knowledge is vast, he can explain and make you understand the most difficult and complex idea in a simple manner which is easy for anybody to understand. Foresightshooting is a living example of his genius to communicate this vast knowledge to those far and wide.
Frankly, it is only when you interact with him that you will truly understand his genius.
For example, how can you explain a shooter who is thousands of miles away, what grip pressure is? Grip pressure is a ‘feeling’, how will you explain this feeling to somebody through a website video?
Hemant Sir has DONE it! A shooter will know exactly what grip pressure to take when he explains this in his Video. THAT IS GENIUS and you will have to interact with him to understand this. That’s about all I can say about him.
